This week was a fairly low key week. I didn’t really go out at all until Friday so the week basically consisted of class and a little bit of “Bernard Time” which is always a joy. Friday was a fun night we just went out with some of our French friends and hung out for a little bit at the place jaude. The big night of the weekend was last night. France played New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup Quarter Finals. New Zealand is considered as the best team in the world and the last time that France played New Zealand, they lost 62-20 and have only beat them 6 or 7 times out of approximately 30. Needless to say they were large underdogs in the contest. New Zealand got out to a very quick 10-0 lead and the score at halftime was 13-3. In the second half France took advantage of some costly New Zealand Mistakes and took the lead eventually for good and they won 20-18. Now we just didn’t sit in our apartment and watch the match… were in the town square and we were with about 7,000 other fans watching the match on a gigantic screen that they put up just for this match. It was quite an ambiance for the match and the place went crazy after it ended. The last 4 minutes were about as tense as a sporting event could get as any kick or try by New Zealand would have resulted in France losing the match.
On a side note, every football team in the US needs to start doing this:
In any case here are some pictures from the night.. not too many as my camera died.
Also here is where I live!
I also know that this is not a very lengthy entry but my laptop is about to die and I need to get home for dinner…
Love to all and hope to talk to some of you soon.
